Bespoke Jewellery Pieces

Our Jewellery Creation Process

We love working closely with our customers because it’s so much more than walking into a shop to purchase a product. It’s a creative journey we embark on together; getting to know you better so we can create you something truly personal.

Consultation

First is the initial consultation where we discuss your ideas, thoughts, colours, and designs. Whether it’s recreating a special piece or creating something new and truly unique.

Design

We then realise your ideas with our new, state-of-the-art 3D CAD software. You can see how your special piece will look in real life to give you a real sense of what the finished product will be like.

The Wax Model

From the 3D design, a wax model is created that will be the first realisation of your jewellery. The wax representation is a key part of the crafting, and a similar technique has been used in creating jewellery for many, many years.

Casting & Setting

Our master Goldsmiths and jewellers then set to work creating the final piece. In our in-house workshop, we melt and cast the jewellery using the wax model as a guide.

Polishing

Once all the work is complete, your special piece of jewellery undergoes a rigorous polishing regime to make the metal and stones sparkle. This is where the meticulous planning, casting, setting and more all pays off, as a dazzling piece of jewellery emerges from our workshop.

Your Finished Product

Finally, we present the finished product to you. From concept to completion, all in the hands of our skilled craftspeople. We hope this is only the start of our relationship, as we love to keep in touch and work with our customers for many years to come.

Lasting Care

As part of our relationship, we offer free jewellery cleaning and inspections for life, meaning that the special piece we craft for you will stay looking fantastic and keep its sparkle forever.

House of McCue Heritage

Established 1948

House of McCue was founded in 1948 by Henry McCue; a self-taught Watch Maker who studied whilst doing his National Service. After leaving the army in 1948 Henry opened his first shop in Cleethorpe Road selling watches, carrying out watch repairs and even repairing false teeth!

1960s

In the 1960’s Henry bought a plot of land on Wilton Road and self-built his new factory, to manufacture jewellery for independent jewellers throughout the country. This extensive trade-focus arm of the company still thrives as one of the core parts of the business today.

1970s

Henry and his wife Ann expanded the business into retail sales in 1970 to satisfy the extensive interest from passer’s by.

With the addition of the retail shop, Henry and Ann also extended the premises again to enable them to extend their range of products, and deal with the high demand for jewellery repair work and bespoke orders.

A World First!

After many years of Jewellery Manufacturing, Henry moved into making a new solid gold Ear Piercing Stud, the first on the market in the world; all the design and building of the tools were carried out by Henry himself, and the Ear Piercing studs were supplied to hundreds of outlets across the UK. The range of Ear Piercing studs has increased over the years and is still supplied across the UK today.

2004

This Ear Piercing side of the business was extended in 2004 when Henry’s youngest son Sean bought Estelle Ear Piercing and moved it’s production to the Wilton Road site. Estelle Ear Piercing has also continued to go from strength to strength and now employs over 10 local people and supply over 40 countries worldwide.

Today

With jewellery manufacture and repair still at the core of the business, House of McCue continue to serve the trade and public with our range of services and have recently invested in new state of the art equipment for our jewellery workshop.

Over the years, House of McCue has kept pace with dramatic changes in the world of jewellery. Yet we remain a true family business, and now we’re working hard to offer more to our customers than ever before.
